Documentary Wedding Photography · Southern Italy

Southern Italy. Documented by Someone Who Knows It.

You're planning this from far away. I've spent 15 years documenting real Southern Italian life — before I ever photographed a wedding. I reply in English, always.

Tell me about your wedding

Why Southern Italy. Why this way.

You didn't choose Southern Italy for a photoshoot. You chose it because it's real.

Most couples getting married here want the same thing: the food, the light, the feeling of a place that isn't staged for tourists. I don't turn your wedding into a photoshoot either — I follow, I observe, I stay out of the way. What matters more if you're planning from abroad: I've spent 15 years documenting real life here, long before I photographed my first wedding.

The Authentic Wedding Method

Planning from another country? That's most of my couples.

We start with a video call, in English — no awkward translation, no waiting for a reply in a time zone that doesn't match yours. I learn who you are and what makes you uncomfortable in front of a camera, and what your day actually looks like: multiple locations, a reception that runs past midnight, guests flying in from different countries.

① Listen — before I photograph you, I understand your day and your worries.
② Plan — we map the timeline together, so nothing gets lost between venues, translators, or time zones.
③ Disappear — on the day, I document. You live it.

Before You Choose

Two minutes, nine questions. No forms to fill in blind, no guesswork. You'll walk away knowing exactly what to look for in a wedding photographer — and whether it's me.

What Kind of Couple Are You?

Where I work

Wedding photographer based in Calabria and available across all of Southern Italy.

I'm based in Calabria and available across Southern Italy. I work in the places I know — coastlines, hilltop villages, masserie, historic castles — because knowing a location means knowing where the light falls and where the real moments happen.

Calabria

Tropea, Capo Vaticano, Scilla, Costa Viola, Roseto Capo Spulico, Corigliano, Le Castella. Sea, cliffs, castles and authentic villages — this is where I'm at home.

Basilicata

Matera and the surrounding area. Stone, silence, and a landscape that makes every moment unforgettable.

Puglia

Campania

Valle d'Itria, Ostuni, Polignano, Salento. Masserie, trulli and countryside estates for couples who want Southern Italy at its most cinematic.

Amalfi Coast, Positano, Ravello, Capri, Ischia, Procida, Cilento — from Naples south. Cliffs, lemon groves, islands you reach only by boat. I travel here for couples who want Italy's most iconic coastline, documented the same way as everywhere else: no direction, no performance, just what's real.

Real stories

I've worked with couples from Germany and across Europe who chose Southern Italy for their wedding. What they had in common: they didn't want a photoshoot. They wanted to remember how it felt.

"Posing with Adriano never felt forced. I enjoyed every single moment, like I was getting married all over again." — A German bride, married on the Calabrian coast.

Foreign couples, Southern Italy, real moments.

"On the day, it was as if he wasn't there — yet he captured moments I didn't even know had happened." — A couple living abroad, married in Calabria.

A German couple, Ionian coast at sunset. We spent time together first — I learned who they were before I raised the camera. The result was something between a session and a real moment.

They're still there, don't worry. Authentic documentary photography doesn't exclude the traditional shots with family and guests — it includes them, but in a few focused minutes, not an hour of posing. I'll show your family where to stand, and for everything else, I document what's really happening.

WHAT IF MY FAMILY EXPECTS THE TRADITIONAL GROUP PHOTOS?

It's the most common fear I hear, and it's a fair one. That's exactly why the Authentic Wedding Method has a phase dedicated to this: Planning. Before the wedding, we map out every key moment together — not to lock the day down, but to free it up. On the day itself, the organizing is already done: all you have to do is live it. You'll live your wedding without stress. It's a promise.

I'M AFRAID I'LL BE SO CAUGHT UP IN LOGISTICS THAT I WON'T ACTUALLY ENJOY THE DAY. HOW DO YOU PREVENT THAT?

No, not by default. I only share a carefully chosen selection of the weddings I document on social media — never in bulk — and only with couples who explicitly allow it. If you'd rather your day stay private, it stays private, full stop. I don't shoot for my feed. I shoot for your memories in 30 years.

WILL MY WEDDING BECOME CONTENT FOR YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA OR MARKETING?

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ELOPEMENTS AND INTIMATE WEDDINGS?

Yes — and for you, that might mean the day actually feels like yours. No guest list to manage, no schedule fighting the light, just the two of you and Southern Italy. You still get the full Authentic Wedding Method: we talk before the day so you're not walking in blind, we plan the moments that matter to you, and on the day itself you'll have the same freedom two hundred guests would get — just more of it. Not a portfolio shoot. Your day, kept real.

DO YOU COVER MULTI-DAY WEDDING CELEBRATIONS?

Yes. Many couples getting married in Southern Italy plan more than a single day — a welcome dinner, the ceremony, a farewell brunch the morning after. I can document as much or as little of it as matters to you, and we map out exactly which moments during the Planning phase, so you're never paying for me to just stand around. I take on a maximum of 20 weddings a year for exactly this reason: when I'm at your celebration, I'm not somewhere else the next day too.
